It’s my favorite time of year. Temps are cooler, bugs are leaving and I get to dress up my dogs and sometimes the horse.
How about a Tripawd Halloween costume contest?? Of course to include tripawds and quadpawds. Here’s Maggie in her cop uniform and her pilgrim outfit.
We decided to try and get out of the smoke so went on a nice horse ride way up high but we could still see our little valley burning up. Sad but that is nature at it’s finest. We are okay, about 5 miles from an evacuation site but I think the fire is going a different direction. Pray for rain!!
Today would have been Maggie’s 7th birthday and 2 days from now would be her final day. Here’s a few photos of my girl and all she loved to do.

This is Hank. He is 8 weeks old. I got him 2 weeks ago thinking he was 8 weeks old. He peed all the time so I had a urine test done on him which revealed a raging UTI. He just finished his antibiotics but he is still peeing everywhere so it may be a training thing now. So between Hank and working more than I want to I haven’t been able to get on this site and support everyone. So I am thinking of all of you as I’m chasing my puppy all over.

Am I next?
Oh, motel beds
Blink’s been a busy girl this fall. First she got to go fishing at the McCloud reservoir. She’s looking for fish in Maggie’s blue coat which is too small for her (more on that later). Then she got to go to Diamond Lake, Oregon and spend two and a half days fishing. It was very cold in the morning and we sat about 5 inches from Mr Heater until it warmed up. Then we went for a sunset walk and she and Dad cuddled up on a bench. She got to lay on the motel bed for a little bit but had to go in her crate at night because she is more comfortable there (read, no barking) When we got home the next day we went for a horse ride,

then with my amazing sewing skills (haha) I made Blink a new coat out of an old Indian blanket.

I am happy to report my remodel is all done. I have my long awaited dog shower. Blink as you can see is thrilled to be in there. Also as you can see in the foreground my heirloom tomatoes are ripening. So in my little part of the universe things are good. I miss Maggie very much, it’s been 5 months. I also don’t think she would’ve been happy with the dog shower but she would’ve smelled good. God bless.

Several years ago I planted horseradish because I liked it, especially on veggie dogs. Then one day about a month ago I decided to dig up all the horseradish because it got really tall and unruly and I couldn’t eat it or give it away fast enough. So I thought I dug it all up. A couple of days later I would go out there and more horseradish would sprout up. I dug that up. Again it would come up. Maggie used to sit in the garden and watch me. I decided horseradish was just like cancer and just wouldn’t go away. I’m sure Maggie was wondering why I was digging and prodding and cursing with such a vengeance. I thought about using some pesticide to kill it (chemo)but the green plant next to it (rhubarb) would get damaged (other organs) and besides I don’t use anything stronger than soap. As you can see in the picture the horseradish moved outside it’s border to the rest of the bed (metastasis). I was getting more frantic about getting all the horseradish out but every 3 days more would pop up. I think I decided I (Maggie) wasn’t going to win this battle. It was a plant but to me it was the cancer battle and we were not going to win. So the plant is still there and maybe I will try and look at it in a different way but probably not.
