Saying Goodbye to Eddie (the horse)

After 25 years of riding mountains, parades, horse shows, taking relatives for rides I had to say goodbye to my buddy. At 31 years of age he was ready to go to the big pasture in the sky. A super hard decision to make but like all our loved animals it is our responsibility to know when to release them. When my husband and I married I explained to him he had to get a horse if he wanted to hang with me. So he got Eddie. He had quite a few misadventures with him (read bucked off) but eventually they became good partners. It wasn’t long before I got really attached to him and started using him as my own horse and saw how very talented he was. There was nothing he wouldn’t do. As he got older he developed Cushing’s disease and ground down his teeth so he couldn’t eat hay only soft pellets. I had the vet come out and he had a peaceful death and lives next to an old buddy that died several years ago. Run free my sweet Eddie.

So sorry to hear about your loss of Eddie. He looks very much like the horse i had for a summer at a riding camp. And I love the Santa hat!

Penny I am so sorry for your loss. He was a beautiful horse. No matter what kind of baby it is to us the loss is just as hard. Gallop free Eddie. Til you meet again at the Bridge.

Ohhh Penny,Hank, Blink and hubby. I am soooooo very sorry to read that your buddy Eddie had to head to the Bridge. So sorry.

To have him by your side all these hears, day in and day out…wow! That kind of loving bond, that kind of friendship, that really will stay with you forever.

To give that ultimate gift of release is o e of the most loving gifts we can ever give. You loved Eddie enough to do that for him…and he knew you would.

The pictures of Eddie take my breath away. He is such a majestic being! Absolutely majestic! And look at him adorned with all his championships! Eddie defines being a Champion all his life! And then we have he and Blink witn his Santa hat on…adorable!! Eddie’s fun personality comes shining through!

And Penny, your love for Eddie comes shining through too. The void after all these years has to be brutal. You knkw the drill though. You know the THOUSANDS, literally THOUSANDS of happy memories will help push the grief away.

I KNOW Maggie vreeted him at the Bridge with so much joy! I’m sure their reunion was a splendid one!!!

I also know you will feel Eddie’s presence, alo v with Maffie’s presence, strong, really strong, when you are out in tne trails, or who knows where, but you’ll feel them!

Sending you lots of love my dear friend
